This paper discusses the IBM Informix database and its suitability for deployment within Internet of Things (IoT) environments. These IoT environments may require processing at the device level and will certainly require such capabilities in gateways and at the centre. A consisent processing envrionment – both operational and analytic – is required across the IoT landscape. Moreover, much of this processing, in gateways and devices, needs to be autonomous a “fire and forget” database will be required. This paper considers the strengths of IBM Informix within this context.
